International adventure and commercial photographer Sverre Hjørnevik based in Norway.

Sverres story begins in Voss — a small mountain town surrounded by steep peaks, deep forests, glacial rivers, and open skies. Growing up there meant growing up in movement. Skiing in winter, river sports in summer, skydiving and paragliding overhead — Voss shaped a culture where nature is both playground and proving ground. In that environment, adventure was not a hobby; it was a way of life.

Photography entered early. At fourteen, inspired by the landscapes and the local nature photographers who documented them, he picked up a camera and never really put it down. What started as curiosity quickly became instinct — a desire to frame the feeling of being there.A professional path first led him elsewhere. He studied at the Norwegian University of Police and spent years working in law enforcement. Yet the camera followed every assignment, every mountain trip, every gathering of friends. Alongside his work, he steadily built a commercial portfolio from 2005 onward, collaborating with brands and athletes drawn to his authentic, outdoor-driven perspective.

In 2011, with a growing family and a clear inner pull toward creative work, he made the decisive shift to full-time photography. Since then, his work has centered on the relationship between people and landscape — the scale of mountains against a lone skier, the quiet intensity before a jump, the energy of elite athletes in motion, the calm of a coastal sunset. Whether documenting global campaigns, automotive launches, or local stories close to home, the focus remains the same: honest storytelling grounded in atmosphere, light, and presence.Assignments have taken him far beyond Norway, but the foundation remains rooted in the west coast — where weather, terrain, and culture shape both character and craft.

Today, all projects are produced through Sjut AS — a stronger creative team built to deliver larger productions, sharper strategy, and deeper collaboration. What began as an individual journey has evolved into a focused company working with brands and partners who value authenticity, precision, and long-term thinking.

Behind the beat: Slomosa

Rising from the vibrant cultural tapestry of Bergen, Norway, Slomosa made an explosive entry onto the international stoner rock stage in 2020. It was my friend and colleague, Finn, who first introduced me to their electrifying sound during one of our many road trips together during work in 2021. By 2024, I found myself uniquely positioned to capture the essence of their creative process through my photography. I was granted exclusive access to the set of their latest music video for the single "Battling Guns," thanks to the team at Front Film in Voss, Norway. A special thanks to Yorick, Jon, Finn & the band for allowing me the honor of being a part of this production.

Explorer's Precision: Skillful deer hunting by the fjords

As I join in on the remarkable Norrona journey, into the heart of the Norwegian fjords. Where amongst others Børge Ousland, renowned polar explorer and former Norwegian Special Forces officer, showcases his skills in a different kind of exploration. This hunting trip took us deep into the land of deer, where outdoor clothing company Norrøna together with friend and ambassador Børge Ousland applied vast experience in outdoors exploring, gear and add precision to the art of deer hunting. I witnessed the fusion of explorer's instincts and hunter's expertise. Always honored when my friends at Norrøna let me be part of the journey.
